Since recent events have demonstrated the relative environmental soundness of hydraulic fracturing – a technique for extracting oil and gas from shale formations – Promised Land’s script has been altered to make doom-saying environmentalists the tools of oil companies attempting to discredit legitimate “fracking” concerns.

  1. Fracking can be done much safer than most states currently require. As a result of that situation and the disposal of liquids after the actual fracking we will probably be dealing with consequences to our environment, ground water pollution, and tectonics shifting for centuries. Because of the over-permitting and underregulating the gas industry has cratered as supply has vastly outstripped demand and infrastructure support. Unfortunately this lowered return on investment has lead policy makers to relax standards and increase pollution even more. An Arabic financier would obviously imply an inherent bias and conflict of interest, but the concerns and underlying problems are very real.
