that there is a problem with the ruling on California’s Proposition 8. The problem I have is that it went before the Federal Court to start with. Proposition 8 was a measure placed on the ballot for the citizens of California to decide by popular vote. They did. The People spoke through the ballot box and that should have been the end of it. Whether you agree or disagree with the results of the vote, the voting was handled in a legal and proper manner. It seems that in this day and age if the few do not agree with the wishes of the many they will haul them to court and do their best to have their views prevail. This means one man or woman (judge) can literally over ride the feelings of thousands, perhaps millions of other people. There is a name for a system like that and it does not stem from democracy nor fit in a Republic.
